Bulgarian Prime Minister resigns by virtue of previous agreement

Nikolai-Denkov-1
Sofia, Mar 5 (Prensa Latina) Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov presented his resignation on Tuesday to the National Assembly (unicameral Parliament) as stipulated in the agreement between the two majority political forces in the government.

After the April 2023 elections, the conservative Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party and the PP-BD reformist coalition, composed of Continuing Change and Democratic Bulgaria, agreed on the rotation at the head of the executive.

President Rumen Radev could opt for Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel to succeed Denkov, according to information from the BTV channel.

The Constitution and Parliament’s Rules of Procedure do not stipulate a deadline for voting on the resignation of the prime minister and his cabinet.
