President Rodrigo Chaves continues to meet with mayors

San José, Mar 18 (Prensa Latina) After several meetings with newly elected mayors in some provinces and regions, Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves, continues today his exchange with other local representatives.

The latest meetings involved the mayors of the Chorotega Region, Huetar Norte and Cartago, while he also met with the mayors of the San José, the western province of Puntarenas and the province of Limón.

In late February, the president announced his intention to hold these meetings in order to seek common agreements to establish his priorities.

A statement from the Presidential House highlights that the mayors will have working sessions at least twice a year directly with the President, his advisors and some authorities, according to the prioritization of issues in each district.

The municipal elections were held on February 4 and selected 6,212 positions among mayors, councilors, intendants and trustees.

They were the third elections since 2016, when they were separated from the national ones and involved novelties; however, they presented an abstention rate of 68 percent.
