Israel remains tense in the face of an imminent Iranian response

Tel Aviv, Apr 13 (Prensa Latina) Israel woke up today on alert after a night of tension due to the fear of an imminent Iranian response to the aggression against its consulate in Damascus, Syria, which caused the death of several military personnel, including two generals.

The Armed Forces (IDF) have been on high alert for days amid growing nervousness among broad sectors of society.

Tension increased last night when the Lebanese Hizbullah movement launched some 50 rockets into the country amid its usual exchange of fire for the past six months, although they were intercepted or landed in unpopulated areas.

Television stations and online newspapers have been warning since yesterday that the Iranian attack is imminent, in retaliation for the Israeli incursion, although its scope is unknown.

That nation accused Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration of bombing its consulate in the Syrian capital on April 1, which caused the death of commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
