According to the foreign minister, in a message to the White House at dawn the Islamic Republic made it clear that the actions were limited and punitive on the Zionist state.
Dubbed “Operation True Promise”, the Aerospace Force launched during the early hours of the morning dozens of missiles and drones against Israeli targets, with the approval of the Supreme National Security Council and the supervision of the General Staff and the backing of the Ministry of Defense.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed that the Islamic Republic’s armed forces exercised their inherent right to self-defense as stipulated in Article 51 of the UN Charter, and the military response was directed against Israeli military bases.
In this regard, Abdollahian said that Iran’s legitimate, firm and natural reaction took into account the security of the region, which it informed neighboring and regional nations.
In this regard, he expressed to the countries that have military relations with Israel, the Islamic Republic’s position of not attacking US bases or widening the circle of conflict.
However, the Minister clarified: “If the United States intervenes to defend the Zionist state from the lands of the countries of the region, we will confront it”.
In this regard, the head of Iranian diplomacy stated that Washington was aware in advance of the legitimate Iranian defensive military operation.
In this line of message, he assured that Iran will be forced to attack military bases in neighboring countries if it is exposed to any aggression.
The Zionist state misunderstood self-restraint and carried out terrorist operations using US fighter-bombers and missiles against the Iranian consulate in Damascus, he added.
At this point, he stressed that Iran tried through diplomatic channels to ask the international community to condemn the Zionist aggression against its consulate in Damascus.
However, he denounced that Tel Aviv’s allies obstructed the diplomatic channel to avoid a condemnation of the deadly attack on the Iranian consular representation in the Syrian capital earlier this month.
