Murillo stressed that “Colombian and Argentine people who reside in both countries, such as students, workers, businessmen and their families, are the axis of this bilateral relationship.”

Colombia and Argentina experienced days of diplomatic tensions after President Javier Milei offended his counterpart Gustavo Petro during an interview on CNN in late March, when he called him a terrorist murderer.

In response to the insults, on Wednesday, March 27th, the Colombian Foreign Ministry described as “denigrating the way in which Milei expressed himself” against the president of Colombia. As a result, the Colombian government ordered the expulsion of diplomats from the Argentine embassy in Colombia.

However, a few days later, both countries issued a joint statement saying that each of these governments took steps to overcome differences, strengthen their relations, and indicated the return to the normal routine of their respective ambassadors.
