Cubans celebrate International Workers’ Day

Havana, May 1 (Prensa Latina) Cubans are celebrating International Workers' Day on Wednesday with mass rallies and parades that, as usual, are a national workers' movement celebration in Cuba.

On his X profile, President Miguel Díaz-Canel called to fill the country’s squares with the same spirit as the previous days, when outstanding workplaces and workers were acknowledged.

The general secretary of the Cuban Workers’ Confederation (CTC), Ulises Guilarte, assured that the anniversary of the world proletariat is celebrated here with patriotic and mass events and marches “full of enthusiasm and the least possible expenditure of material resources.”

Guilarte, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, informed on national television that the provinces of Artemisa (west) and Havana are holding rallies and not parades as usual.

He stressed that the main venue of the celebration is the José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune, where people from five Havana municipalities will gather.

The CTC leader also praised the participation in the events of more than 1,000 foreign visitors, members of Cuban solidarity committees from nearly 50 countries, who are in Havana for an international solidarity meeting with Cuba.
