Türkiye describes Netanyahu’s arrest warrant as positive

Ankara, May 20 (Prensa Latina) Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç described on Monday the arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued by the International Court of Justice(ICJ) for the genocide perpetrated in Gaza to be positive, albeit belated.

The move by the ICJ’s chief prosecutor to issue an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for their war crimes and crimes against humanity is a long-overdue decision, but a positive step, Tunç said.

Since October 7, the Israeli Government has been trampling international law with its attacks on the Gaza Strip and specifically in the Rafah region, in total disregard of fundamental human rights, the Turkish official denounced.

Tel Aviv had no regard for the rights to life, security, private property, religion and conscience, he assured.

Israeli officials who target innocent people should be brought to court immediately and paid for it, the justice minister posted on his X-account, quoted by the capital’s television.

Türkiye will maintain its support for the Palestinian people in their struggle against injustice, genocide and crimes against humanity committed by Israel, he affirmed.

We will not suspend our support for our Palestinian siblings until the existence of a Palestinian State with the 1967 borders is recognized, the official stressed.
