China’s Foreign Minister receives special advisor to President Lula

Beijing, May 24 (Prensa Latina) China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi met today in Beijing with Celso Amorim, senior special advisor to Brazilian President Luis Inacio da Silva (Lula).

At the meeting, Wang noted that China attaches great importance to Brazil’s international status and influence, and always places Brazil in a priority position in Beijing’s overall diplomatic situation.

China and Brazil are important developing countries and representatives of emerging economies, and both are members of the BRICS. The minister stressed that the relationship between the two countries goes beyond the bilateral scope and has a strategic and general impact.

He added that China attaches great importance to promoting cooperation with the regional blocs Mercosur and Celac and is willing to strengthen it with Brazil to encourage further development of relations between China and Latin America.

With the same tone, Amorim noted that Brazil-China relations transcend the bilateral scope and are strategically important.
