Russia destroys a MiG-29 fighter jet at Ukrainian airfield

Moscow, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Armed Forces destroyed, with an Iskander missile, a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter stationed at an airfield in Krivói Rog, Dnipro province, the Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.

A team of the Iskander tactical operational missile system attacked the Dolgutsevo airfield and exterminated aerial firefighting aircraft and vehicles of the aeronautical engineering service, the military institution announced on its official Telegram channel.

On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry informed that five Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets had been destroyed in an attack with Iskander-M missile systems on the Myrgorod airfield in Poltava province.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, to protect the population from “Ukrainian authorities’ genocide,” according to President Vladimir Putin.

It also aims to counter national security risks posed by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) eastward expansion.

On June 14, Putin formulated several crucial conditions to start peace negotiations, in particular, that Ukraine withdraws troops from four new Russian territories (Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye) and refrain from joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
