Russia criticizes Armenia’s participation in NATO Summit

Moscow, Jul 11 (Prensa Latina) Armenia's participation in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit in Washington is regrettable for Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said on Thursday.

Instead of a constructive approach to discussing Yerevan’s concerns, it unfortunately chose a different path, Galuzin said in an interview with Sputnik news agency.

He noted that Armenia prefers to increase its interaction with NATO, or with individual NATO members, especially when it comes to the implementation of the war bloc’s norms, the purchase of armaments or joint combat training activities, all of which “cannot but cause extreme regret.”

“Strengthening cooperation at such a pace with those whose goal is the strategic defeat of Russia, Armenia runs the risk of seriously destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus, even to the detriment of its own security,” he added.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan attended the NATO Summit in the US capital on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Atlantic Alliance.
