In a letter to Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), Medvedev lamented the damage caused by heavy rains in North Pyongan and Jagang provinces, where thousands of people had to be evacuated by boats and military helicopters.
The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation shared the grief of the victims and said he was confident that the joint efforts of the WPK, the State, and the Korean people, with Kim Jong Un at the helm, would soon repair the damage.
Earlier, in a message to Kim, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his sorrow for the damage caused by the floods and the willingness of his government to provide the DPRK with the assistance it needs.
