The Cuban Foreign Ministry informed that Castro met with the director general of Bilateral Affairs at MINREX, Carlos Miguel Pereira, with whom he discussed the status of the fourth cycle of implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (PDCA) between the European Union and its Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Cuba, of the other part.
This agreement is in a very advanced phase with concrete results in its various areas. The parties also agreed to work on the development of a roadmap that will contribute to the follow-up of the actions agreed upon in the political dialogue and the cooperation subcommittee already carried out in the current cycle.
They also referred to the effects caused by the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba in the development of ties with the European Union and its member countries.
Pereira expressed gratitude for the unanimous support from the community bloc for the United Nations resolution that demands the end of the unilateral US policy and its position against Cuba’s ongoing inclusion on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
The delegations described as positive the results in the area of cooperation and its prospects in the bilateral and regional spheres, as noted in the Cooperation Subcommittee, which took place in May 2024.
During his stay in Havana, the European official met with Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo and representatives of other Cuban organizations.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Castro’s visit is a prelude to the Fourth Joint Committee between Cuba and the European Union, which is to be held in the coming months as part of the closing events of the fourth cycle of implementation of the PDCA. jg/arc/mks
