The veteran Peruvian socialist expressed his condemnation of Trump’s revocation, as soon as he again assumed the U.S. presidency, of the order of his predecessor, Joseph Biden, to remove Cuba from the aforementioned list.
“The arrogant and imperial decision of the president-elect only demonstrates the level of mockery and contempt for the Latin American and Caribbean peoples,” the veteran socialist militant told Prensa Latina.
He added that Biden recognized the conviction of the international community that “Cuba does not sponsor terrorism and has always fought against that scourge in any of its forms.”
According to him, the Trump administration, like the first one, promotes hatred against the Cuban people and provokes profound shortages for the purpose of domination.
Cabieses expressed his solidarity with Cuba’s firm determination for sovereignty and dignity in the face of what he called “imperial designs that violate international law.”
He called on the United Nations to defend, in the face of the policies of the extremist ruler of the United States, the purposes and principles of the 1945 Charter and to safeguard the basic rules governing international relations and practice true multilateralism.
