The head of Government recalled on his X profile that on February 3, 1962, then US President John F. Kennedy, through executive order 3447, legalized the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
Also on X, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez stressed that “it is 63 years of implementation of that criminal hostile policy of economic suffocation and punishment of Cuban families.”
According to Cuban authorities, the US policy caused losses to Cuba worth 5.056 billion dollars, between March 2023 and February 29, 2024.
Meanwhile, the approximate monthly impact amounts to more than 421 million dollars, more than 13.8 million dollars daily, and more than 575,683 dollars in damages for each hour of blockade.
On September 30, the United Nations General Assembly adopted with 187 votes in favor, two against and one abstention, the thirty-second resolution demanding the end of the US blockade against Cuba.
The delegations from the United States and Israel voted against, while Moldova abstained.
