The official criticized, in a statement, the decision by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cancel the 1967 agreement, and warned of the consequences and risks for millions of Palestinians.
The actions against that agency are “a crime against humanity and a flagrant disregard for the international community and the United Nations Security Council resolutions” on the protection of Palestinian refugees, he indicated.
Al Yamahi also called for Arab and global support to prevent the displacement of Gazans, as US President Donald Trump recently proposed.
He also called on the world and the United Nations to assume their “moral and legal responsibility” and take practical steps to force Israel to reverse its decision to cease that agency’s operations, which provides aid to some 6.4 million people.
Two laws passed by the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) against UNRWA took effect on Thursday, January 30.
