The statement noted that, on this issue, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone talk with Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
The Egyptian foreign minister called on the EU to increase humanitarian aid to the coastal enclave, which has been devastated after 15 months of Israeli attacks in which more than 47,000 Palestinians have been killed.
Abdelatty also defended the Palestinian people’s right to remain on their lands and achieve self-determination, while stressing the need to solidify the ceasefire deal reached between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
An official statement noted that the head of Egyptian diplomacy also talked about the matter by phone with United States Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steven Witkof.
Abdelatty asked Washington, during the talk, to participate in efforts to find a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on international norms.
