According to Valdés’ statement to Prensa Latina, during the dialogue both parties recognized the excellent relations between the two countries, in the bilateral and multilateral political-diplomatic sphere.
Kalantarli recalled with satisfaction the efficient work of the 235 Cuban doctors who fought against the Covid-19 pandemic in Azerbaijan during 2020 and 2021, whom he said he had the privilege of meeting and caring for during his stay in Baku.
Valdés emphasized that despite the US policy of maintaining and intensifying the criminal and genocidal blockade against the Cuban people and including Cuba in the arbitrary list of state sponsors of terrorism, the country pays special attention to the protection of its population in emergency situations and natural disasters.
The ambassador reiterated Cuba’s willingness to continue expanding and strengthening political, economic and cooperation ties with Azerbaijan in various areas, including in response to emergency situations and in Civil Defense.
