Anti-corruption campaign reaches top Chinese official

Beijing, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) The former vice chairman of the Education, Science, Culture and Health Commission of the 13th National People's Congress of China, Du Yubo, was reportedly charged with serious disciplinary and legal violations.

The Central Committee for Discipline Control and the National Supervisory Commission of China announced his expulsion from the Communist Party (CCP).

According to the investigation, Du Yubo lost his ideals and betrayed his initial mission, accepted banquets that could influence the exercise of his duties, failed to report relevant personal information and manipulated hiring processes to benefit third parties in exchange for money and gifts.

The former high-ranking official was also accused of using educational resources as tools to obtain personal benefits.

He engaged in illicit transactions of power and money, facilitated the creation of private universities and the awarding of construction projects in exchange for considerable sums of money.

“His actions seriously violated the Party’s political, organizational, integrity and life standards,” the report revealed.

According to the source, this case will be referred to the courts for legal prosecution, along with the assets involved.

In recent days there have been frequent reports of expulsions from the Party, dismissals or sentences of former high officials of the country accused of violating the law and discipline.
