Homicide rate drops to 7.88 per 100 000 in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo, March 3 (Prensa Latina) - The homicide rate in the Dominican Republic has decreased to 7.88 per 100,000 inhabitants nationwide as of February 21 of this year, according to a report from the National Police on their website.

The latest information from the Joint Task Force indicates that six regions have not recorded any homicides, and 15 others have a single-digit homicide rate.

This represents a reduction of 4.15 points in the murder rate compared to February 2024, reflecting the effectiveness of crime prevention and enforcement strategies implemented by the Joint Task Force and the National Police.

The analysis reveals that, as of February 21, there were 67 homicides, primarily due to social conflicts (44.8 percent) and criminal activity (29.9 percent).
