In a statement carried by the state-run ACNC news agency, Kim Yo Jong, deputy head of the Communication and Propaganda Department of the Workers’ Party Central Committee (WPK), noted that this is another among the many moves of enemy strategic assets in recent times.
The US and its allies are thus aggravating tensions on the Korean peninsula and persisting in their plans to set up a NATO-like structure in the region, he said.
The continued deployment of US strategic assets highlight the DPRK’s urgency to strengthen its defensive nuclear deterrent, the influential sister of the Asian nation’s leader, Kim Jong Un, said.
Overseeing a successful strategic cruise missile launch test a few days ago, the WPK general secretary himself noted that permanently testing the components of the DPRK’s nuclear defensive deterrent system are a responsible exercise of war deterrents.
Kim Yo Jong said that the worsening of the situation on the Korean peninsula is entirely due to the U.S. and its allies conducting frequent maneuvers aimed at enhancing war preparations.
The DPRK categorically condemns such reckless follies which disregard the concern of a sovereign state for its security, harm it and undermine the peaceful atmosphere of the region at large, he said.
It also warned that Pyongyang will strengthen its nuclear war deterrent in the face of the enemy’s new displays of hostility because the reality has proved “the legitimacy, rightness and necessity of the line of strengthening our nuclear armed forces.”
