India condemns vandalism at Hindu temple in the US

New Delhi, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) India on Sunday condemned the vandalism of a Hindu temple in California, the United States, and asked local authorities to take strict measures against those responsible and to ensure adequate security at these places.

In a press release about the incident in the US, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Randhir Jaiswal ratified his country’s strong rejection and claim regarding these acts, which he described as despicable.

On Saturday, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, a Hindu spiritual fellowship, shared information about the incident on X, and assured its opposition to any attempt to sow discord.

“In the face of yet another temple desecration, this time in Chino Hills, California, the Hindu community stands firm against hatred,” he stressed.

He added that together with the people of that town and Southern California, they will never allow hatred to take root.

“Our common humanity and faith will ensure that peace and compassion prevail,” BAPS public affairs department said on social media.

The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) later recalled similar past incidents in relation to the unfortunate event. According to the Times of India, CoHNA noted that it is not surprising that this is happening as the day of the so-called ‘Khalistan referendum’ in Los Angeles approaches.

The Hindu coalition functions as a community advocacy group dedicated to promoting awareness about Hinduism and addressing the challenges facing the Hindu community in North America, the newspaper noted.

Indian media recalled that there were previous incidents of vandalism against temples last year, including an attack on the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Sacramento, California, on September 25, shortly after another attack on the BAPS Mandir in New York.
