Police operation in Brazil against child sexual abuse

Brasilia, Mar 12 (Prensa Latina) Brazil's Federal Police (PF) today carried out the so-called National Operation of Integral Protection, a coordinated action in 22 states to combat cyber crimes of child sexual exploitation.

Such offensive aims to identify and arrest suspects who use the Internet to store, share, produce and commercialize child sexual abuse material.

Three hundred and forty federal agents were mobilized to execute 72 search and arrest warrants.

To date, 17 persons have been arrested in flagrante offence and six preventive arrest warrants have been issued against those under investigation.

The operation follows the guidelines of the Coordination of Repression of Cyber Crimes Related to Child and Teenagers Sexual Abuse of the PF and complies with the determinations of the Statute of the Child and Adolescent and the Federal Constitution, which guarantee the comprehensive protection of children.

“The impact of these crimes is devastating for the victims, and the Federal Police acts to comply with constitutional provisions that ensure absolute priority to the protection of children and adolescents,” the law enforcement agency remarks
