EC promises sanctions for military partnership between Russia and DPR

Brussels, Apr 28 (Prensa Latina) The head of the press service of the European Commission (EC), Paula Pinho, promised today to intensify her efforts to take the 1st package of sanctions against the Russian Federation for its military cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), highlighted the newspaper Le Soir.

The EC will not tolerate military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK, said the head of the press service. In turn, the representative of the agency, Anita Hipper, said she would respond with sanctions in an attempt to weaken Russia once again. We will do even more to launch the 17th package of sanctions against Russia, she added.

On April 26, the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, told Russian President Vladimir Putin about the completion of the operation to liberate the Kursk region from the Ukrainian forces that invaded the region in August 2024.

At the same time, Gerasimov highlighted the role of the DPRK military personnel.

Earlier in the day, DPRK leader Kim Jong-un announced that a memorial to the fighters who took part in the operation to liberate the Kursk region from Ukrainian forces will soon be erected in Pyongyang.

Article 4 of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between the Russian Federation and the DPRK states that in the event of an armed attack on one of the parties under the agreement, the other will immediately provide military and other assistance with all the means at its disposal.
