The airport was the target of a new drone strike that damaged its infrastructure, suspended flights, and reinforced security measures, military sources said.

The Marina Hotel in central Port Sudan was also hit by a missile; no injuries were reported, and some fuel depots in the city located nearby were affected.

Port Sudan is also considered the entry point for international humanitarian aid to the country, where hundreds of thousands of displaced people have sought refuge.

This week’s strikes have already been condemned by Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Nations.

Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in an internal war, following a power struggle between Army Chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF leader, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
