Disaster Management Units are deployed in Trinidad

Port of Spain, May 20 (Prensa Latina) The government of Trinidad and Tobago is deploying Disaster Management Units, after the Caribbean nation suffered heavy rains that caused flooding in several localities.

Several important roads were flooded and rivers overflowed their limits, forcing authorities to close facilities, according to the Associates Times website.

Now, the Ministry of Rural Development and the government urged locals to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary movement in flood-prone areas.

Disaster Management Units will support works aimed at mitigating damages from landslides, fallen trees and flash floods.

The meteorological department also issued a yellow alert the day before in view of the already intensifying situation and inclement weather.
