The first lines of this poem by Cuba’s National Heroe José Martí, “For a dwarf prince, he has blond hair, soft hair (…)” included in the 1882 book Ismaelillo, which serves as an emblem to carry out this project and whose inauguration will take place at UNEAC’s Villena Hall.
This Theater Festival will start with the meeting “Theatrical Dialogues for Early Childhood”, in which specialists and creators will reflect on the particularities of this artistic manifestation directed on this occasion to the youngest.
The director of La Chinche Theater Studio, Lizzette Silverio; the actress of Teatro Drippy Ana Sánchez; the director of Teatro Viajero, Carmela Núñez; the advisor of Teatro La Proa, Isabel Cristina, as well as the psychologist Roxanne Castellanos and the actor and playwright Maikel Chávez are participants in this first meeting.
The sessions of this first Festival of Theater for Early Childhood “Príncipe Enano” will continue on Wednesday, June 4 with the conference “The first ages: from the theatrical history of the island to the audiovisual incursion in Cubavisión’s Animation Studios”.
This exchange highlights the value of the performing arts in children’s development and the construction of imaginative universes and is organized by the International Association of Theater for Children and Young People Cuba, the Casa A Cultural Promotion Center and the Municipal Directorate of Cultura Plaza.
The theatrical event will run until June 6 with presentations in children’s circles in Havana’s Plaza de la Revolución municipality.
