Nagesh Singh, India’s ambassador to Thailand, today highlighted the bilateral economic dynamism, spurred by the revision of the Trade in Goods Agreement between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).
“Eight to nine rounds of dialogue have been held to modernize the agreement and adapt it to current economic realities,” Singh said.
Thailand’s “Act West Policy,” which positions the country as a maritime gateway between Southeast Asia and South Asia, aligns closely with India’s “Act East Policy.”
The latter, launched in 2014, seeks to strengthen India’s economic, strategic and cultural ties with Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific, with Asean at its core.
Singh added that both nations are actively participating in regional frameworks such as the East Asia Summit and the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation.
