IGAD Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu and the Swedish ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti, accredited to the African agency, Hans Lundquist, chaired the meeting, in which they discussed joint priorities such as boosting the blue economy, promoting gender equality, and empowering youth.

They also discussed strengthening migration governance, the Authority revealed on its X social media account.

Gebeyehu, on the same digital platform, wrote that, for more than four decades, Sweden has supported IGAD in its pursuit of peace, stability, and regional integration.

He thanked the Swedish people and government for their unwavering commitment to a more stable and prosperous Horn of Africa.
