The Lithuanian president’s visit will take place only a few weeks after the meeting held in Davos, Switzerland, by the prime ministers of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, and Lithuania, Gintautas Paluckas, on the sidelines of their participation in the 55th World Economic Forum Meeting.
On the occasion, the heads of Government discussed bilateral cooperation and other issues of mutual interest and agreed to strengthen the exchange of high-level delegations through all channels and coordinate the effective implementation of existing cooperation mechanisms between their Foreign Ministries.
Paluckas affirmed that Lithuania assesses the increasingly close cooperation with Vietnam and is confident that both sides will agree on measures that benefit the bilateral relationship.
In particular, the Lithuanian prime minister expressed a desire to promote cooperation in trade and energy, and expand it to other sectors with potential, such as renewable energy and liquefied natural gas.
Minh Chinh, in turn, stressed the importance Vietnam attaches to strengthening its traditional friendly relations with countries such as Lithuania, and expressed his desire to take ties between the two nations to a higher level.
