On the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of coordinators on FOCAC, outcomes held in this city on Wednesday, Timothewos held talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, and conveyed Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s greetings to President Xi Jinping.
The diplomat highlighted the remarkable progress in strengthening the All-Time Strategic Partnership between the two countries and in implementing the Forum’s Ten Partnership Actions proposed by Xi during the 2024 Beijing Summit.
The foreign minister noted that a strengthened partnership between Ethiopia and China, combined with enhanced coordination in cooperation platforms, such as South-South, BRICS, the United Nations, and other multilateral spaces, became an example. The head of Ethiopian diplomacy noted that the opening in July 2024 of the tripartite China-Africa-UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) Center of Excellence in Addis Ababa will contribute to modernizing the continent and a greater enhancement cooperation between Africa and China.
Wang Yi, in turn, underscored the importance of expressing the two leaders’ common understandings into concrete results, and added that they have made tangible progress in implementing the FOCAC Action Plan.
