Officially designated as an annual event by the World Health Assembly (WHA) in 2005, this year’s theme is “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives.”
Among the campaign’s objectives are to raise public awareness of the need to save blood and blood products to ensure people’s health, and convince regular and new donors to do so regularly to help ensure stable and sufficient reserves.
It also aims to highlight the positive effect of blood donation on the health, well-being of others, and promote solidarity, compassion, and community spirit through this action.
Blood transfusion is a medical procedure in which blood is transferred from one person to another to replace blood components lost due to surgery, injury, bleeding disorder, or disease, including cancer, hemophilia, diabetes, and others.
