Mexican president to hold talks with leaders at G7 Summit

Mexico City, June 17 (Prensa Latina) Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum will hold bilateral meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and leaders of other countries, within the framework of the G7 Summit held in Mexico.

“President @Claudiashein’s visit continues tomorrow with her participation as invited head of State at the G7 Summit,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated yesterday, also mentioning meetings “with the leaders of Germany, India, and the European Union.”

In a message posted on platform X, the ministry expressed “hope for peace and for the situation in the Middle East not to worsen.”

The president had scheduled talks with her US counterpart, Donald Trump, for this Tuesday, but the Republican announced that he would leave the G7 Summit early due to the worsening situation in the Middle East.

Sheinbaum thanked her fellow citizens and the authorities of Calgary and the Tsuut’ina First Nation the day before for the welcome upon her arrival in Canada, and spoke with members of that country’s Business Council interested in investing in Mexico.

The summit of the G7 most industrialized countries in the world, comprised of the United States, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Canada, will meet until Tuesday in Kananaskis, Alberta.
