After meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rute on the sidelines of a NATO summit in the Dutch city, the US president emphasized that his country will not allow Tehran to continue enriching uranium, Sputnik reported.
After admitting that the Pentagon lacks complete information on the damage caused by Washington’s recent bombings of three Iranian nuclear facilities, the president also expressed that he awaits a report from Israel on the matter.
A preliminary US intelligence assessment reveals that the recent attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan set Tehran’s nuclear program put back Teheran nuclear program by only a few months, CNN reported.
The agencies noted that the enriched uranium stockpile was not damaged and that the enrichment equipment remained largely intact, despite the raids on the facilities last week.
Amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, the US government confirmed a ceasefire yesterday, ending the 12-day clashes between Israel and Iran, which left hundreds dead and thousands injured.
Once the truce arrives, it remains to be seen how the future of Iran’s peaceful nuclear program will evolve, which Washington and Tehran were negotiating until a few days ago.
