US Secretary of Homeland Security to visit Honduras

Tegucigalpa, Jun 25 (Prensa Latina) US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem will arrive in this capital on Wednesday for a short stay, during which she will be received by Honduran President Xiomara Castro.

Noem began on Tuesday a three-day Central American tour in Panama, which will also take her to Costa Rica and Guatemala.

In addition to speaking with Castro and Honduran Foreign Minister Javier Bu, the US official will travel to the Soto Cano Air Base, also known as Palmerola, located about 80 kilometers northwest of Tegucigalpa.

Noem’s trip reinforces the United States’ interest in building regional alliances to address shared challenges in migration, security, and border cooperation, several media outlets reported.

This is the first high-level official from President Donald Trump’s administration to visit Honduras since the US magnate took office on January 20, 2025.
