In statements to Prensa Latina, the diplomat stressed that Cuba was the first nation in Latin America and the Caribbean with which Beijing promoted the creation of a community of shared future.
The Cuban deputy minister extoled that the two countries will commemorate next September the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Penalver also highlighted the full identification between both countries based on the commitment to socialism and economic development with a social outlook.
He also praised China’s international cooperation without political conditions, aimed at benefiting the developing countries of the Global South.
In the field of concrete cooperation, bilateral relations cover key sectors such as transportation and energy, the diplomat commented.
In the latter, China has been key in the island’s energy transition process, with renewable energy projects, especially solar photovoltaic power and wind power.
Penalver highlighted the construction of solar parks that will contribute to the change of Cuba’s energy matrix and the strengthening of its sovereignty in this sector.
