Russian athletes to participate in Paralympic Games with their flag

Moscow, Sept 27 (Prensa Latina) Russian athletes will participate with their national flag, anthem, and other national attributes in the Games sponsored by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) announced.

The IPC General Assembly was held in Seoul on September 26 and 27. After two rounds of voting, its members voted against the full suspension of the RPC’s membership and against extending the partial suspension of its membership.

“Today we reached a fair decision on the RPC’s membership in the IPC. Russian Paralympic athletes will participate with their national flag and anthem, as well as other national attributes, in the Paralympic Games and in sports competitions where the IPC acts as an international federation,” the statement said.

The committee details athletics, swimming, weightlifting, Paralympic ice hockey, and shooting.

During the IPC General Assembly, 111 delegates voted against the full suspension of the CPR’s membership in the IPC, while 55 voted in favor.
