Cuba and Namibia reaffirm ties in intergovernmental session

Havana, Oct. 2 (Prensa Latina) The first session of the Cuba-Namibia Intergovernmental Commission, held in Havana, reaffirms the excellent state of bilateral relations and the willingness of both nations to strengthen their cooperation in multiple sectors.

The commission’s co-chairs, Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, and Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Oscar Perez-Oliva, signed the Protocol for bilateral cooperation between the parties and expressed their shared satisfaction with the results achieved.

In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, both parties highlighted the excellent state of relations between their countries and the significance of the meeting in Havana for cooperation in areas such as the economy, health, education, sports, construction, and other sectors.

Likewise, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Center for State Control of Medicines and Medical Devices of Cuba and the Medicines Regulatory Council of Namibia.

They also signed a Work Plan for the implementation of the Framework Agreement for collaboration between the University of Informatics Sciences of Cuba and the University of Namibia, as well as the cooperation agreement on physical culture and sports between the respective ministries.

All this reaffirms the excellent political relations, friendship, and solidarity between the two nations, which have been united since the time when the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the founding father of the African nation, San Nujoma, sowed the fertile seed.

The second session of the Cuba-Namibia intergovernmental commission will be held in September 2027 in Windhoek.
