Led by Rolando Yero, a senior official of the PCC Central Committee, and Humberto Costa, senator and secretary of International Relations at the PT, the meeting marked a new chapter in the inter-party relationship between Havana and Brasilia.
The Cuban PPC official is in Brazil with a message of mutual support and a shared conviction: solidarity between peoples and progressive forces remains a pillar in the face of contemporary challenges.
On behalf of the PCC Central Committee, Yero congratulated Costa on his recent appointment and extended the Cuban party’s best wishes for success to the new PT president, Edinho Silva, who was elected in July.
A historic PT figure and close to President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, the Brazilian senator recalled the years of resistance and friendship between the two parties.
He also reiterated his political organization’s commitment to defending the Cuban people against the unjust economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.
The Cuban leader’s agenda also included meetings with Ana Prestes, secretary of International Relations of the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), and Ricardo Alemão, director of Cooperation at the Mauricio Grabois Foundation.
