Xi noted that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada and the 20th anniversary of the bilateral strategic partnership.
He emphasized that, with both parties working together, bilateral ties are showing a positive trend of recovery, which serves the common interests of both countries.
The Chinese leader expressed his willingness to work with Canada to guide ties toward sound, stable, and sustainable development for the benefit of both peoples.
For his part, Carney stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 55 years ago, Canada and China have maintained positive ties.
The Prime Minister expressed that his government attaches great importance to the relationship with Beijing and seeks to capitalize on opportunities to improve and develop the bilateral relationship.
He noted that Ottawa wishes to recapture the original spirit of the establishment of relations, make up for lost time, and revitalize bilateral cooperation through a pragmatic and constructive approach.
