The band, which champions traditional genres such as danzon, mambo, and cha-cha-cha, while also incorporating more contemporary sounds, will perform at Cafe Havana, an iconic nightclub in Cartagena, on January 30 and 31.
The famous club, located in the Getsemani neighborhood, is known for promoting Cuban salsa and other traditional rhythms with live shows featuring virtuoso musicians and talented dancers.
Failde Orchestra, founded in 2012, continues the legacy of Miguel Failde, creator of the first danzon, entitled “Las Alturas de Simpson.”
It takes this genre as the basis of its repertoire, although it performs a wide range of Cuban musical genres such as danzonete, bolero, son, and timba.
Its current format is based on the typical Cuban charanga of the 20th century, but features an expanded brass section with alto saxophone/clarinet, trombone, and two trumpets.
Failde Orchestra was nominated for a 2025 Latin Grammy in the Best Traditional Tropical Album category for its album “Caminando Piango Piango,” marking its third nomination for these awards and further solidifying its trajectory in preserving traditional Cuban rhythms.
