Accompanied by Foreign Minister Youssef Raji, Aoun will hold meetings with King Felipe VI and the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchez.
The signing of several agreements in the agricultural, cultural, and scientific fields is expected.
Upon his arrival, the head of State highlighted the “deep fraternal relationship” that unites both countries, based on mutual respect, shared interests, and human values.
The Lebanese president expressed his nation’s gratitude for Spain’s support in international forums, particularly in the face of repeated Israeli attacks, and its contribution to peacekeeping through the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), where Spain represents the largest contingent worldwide.
President Aoun also acknowledged Spain’s assistance to the Lebanese Army through financial aid, training programs, and logistical support, as well as Lebanon’s inclusion among the priority countries in the Spanish Cooperation Master Plan 2024-2027, with funding allocated to projects in health and culture.
Lebanon and Spain share fundamental commitments to pluralism, coexistence, respect for international law, and intercultural dialogue.
Aoun underscored his hope to express these shared values in concrete initiatives.
