New Peru Party rejects US attempt to intimidate Cuba

Lima, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) The New Peru Party (NP) rejected the United States' attempt to intimidate Cuba with the announcement of a fuel supply blockade to the island, which it considers contrary to international law.

A statement from New Peru for Good Living expresses its firm solidarity with the people and government of Cuba in the face of the threats and pressure announced by US President Donald Trump regarding a total fuel blockade. The statement refers to Washington regime’s announcement of tariffs against countries that supply oil to the island, which it considers part of “a policy of harassment, blockade, and unilateral sanctions contrary to international law.”

In response to this action, NP rejected “any attempt at intimidation that violates the sovereignty of nations and worsens the living conditions of the civilian population.”

“Unilateral coercive measures do not promote democracy or human rights; they undermine them,” it is stressed, noting that the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on Cuba for more than six decades has been repeatedly condemned by the international community.

This U.S. policy, the note adds, “is a form of collective punishment that affects access to food, medicine, and development,” despite which Cuba has remained steadfast in defending its sovereignty and in solidarity with its sister nations.

Reaffirming its commitment to self-determination, peace, and integration, the Party calls on governments, international organizations, and peoples to reject U.S. threats and to work toward an end to the blockade and for just, supportive, and respectful international relations that uphold the dignity of all peoples.
