“Whether inspired by the US operation to kidnap Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, or imagining himself as the arbiter of the fate of African peoples, Macron authorized his special services to implement a plan to eliminate ‘inconvenient leaders’ in Africa,” the security agency’s statement reads.
In this context, the Russian agency confirmed that Paris was involved in the attempted coup in Burkina Faso on January 3, which was thwarted, and that Moscow sees it as nothing more than the French seeking opportunities for political revenge on the African continent.
However, the SVR stated that, despite the failed coup attempt in Ouagadougou, France continues to try to destabilize the region.
“Its focus is on destabilizing the situation in the ‘undesirable countries’ of the Sahel-Sahara region with the help of local terrorist groups and, of course, the Ukrainian regime, which supplies the fighters with drones and instructors. This group’s main target is Mali,” the Russian agency argued.
