The US blockade violates human rights in Cuba

Buenos Aires, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) The Argentine League for Human Rights (LADH) demanded an end to the criminal aggressions of the United States government against Latin America, especially Cuba.

It also urged the rest of the world to demonstrate with concrete actions its opposition to the advance of imperialist pressure on the island and also on Venezuela, according to a statement obtained by Prensa Latina.

Cuba cannot be considered a threat to the security of the country with the greatest military power in world history, the LADH argues, and insists that Washington must immediately end the reinforced blockade it is imposing on the island.

“The reality, acknowledged by President Donald Trump himself, is that he seeks to break the will of the Cuban people by cutting off their access to electricity and imposing exorbitant tariffs on fuel suppliers, creating a situation so desperate that the people and government are forced to capitulate to the Empire, in a manner even more brutal than that used against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” the group maintains.

“The US action violates all principles of international law and is an extortionate threat against the Cuban people and a violation of their human rights, and against the entire world: whoever does not obey the empire may be crushed,” it warns.

Now, Trump and his allies – the LADH adds – admit that they want to impose a puppet government in Havana, one that will carry out their every wish.

To this end, Washington has dedicated an enormous amount of money, for more than six decades, to prevent the development of Socialist Cuba through military, economic, and propaganda aggression.

“But despite all the attacks, Cuba survives, thanks to the proven courage and incredible resilience of the Cuban people in the face of imperial crimes (first by Spain, now by the U.S.),” the organization stated.

At the same time, the organization called for “not abandoning Cuba and its people. Those who do not oppose this new extortion on principle should do so for their own self-interest, since many countries and regions could be next on the list of invasions.”
