Turkiye rejects any military intervention against Iran

Autor Ankara, Feb 18 (Prensa Latina) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed his country's opposition to any military intervention against Iran and warned that a new war in the region would only exacerbate instability in the Middle East.

The president made these statements to the press aboard the presidential plane upon his return from an official visit to Ethiopia, where he emphasized that Ankara’s position has been communicated to all parties involved. A new war against Iran will benefit no one; on the contrary, the entire region will lose, Erdogan, who highlighted that Turkiye maintains high-level contacts with both Tehran and Washington, stated.

The head of State insisted that the differences between Iran and the United States must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

“We are a country that builds bridges, not walls; we do not fuel conflicts, but rather pave the way to peace,” he expressed.

Erdogan warned that a military escalation and increased tensions would plunge the region into greater uncertainty, and maintained that as long as the diplomatic path remains open, there is room for a negotiated solution.
