CAPAC, a consolidated news project about Cuba in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Feb 20 (Prensa Latina) The Argentine Club of Journalists Friends of Cuba (CAPAC) has brought about a change in the systematic communication about Cuba, which previously lacked a channel in Argentina, its secretary and photojournalist, Alberto Mas, summarized.

Founded on October 12, 2010, by a small group of journalists in solidarity with the Cuban people and directed by renowned intellectual Stella Calloni, the CAPAC went through ups and downs until it channeled its work with the support of the Latin American News Agency, Prensa Latina. It has currently reached 2,600 newsletters, which it distributes to dozens of radio stations nationwide.

Alberto Mas told Prensa Latina that the group of press professionals is not only dedicated to countering fake news, but also disseminating the everyday realities of Cuba, international solidarity efforts, and breakthroughs in health, education, and research.

They also disseminate a constant denunciation of the adverse conditions suffered by the Cuban people caused by the genocidal economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the US government.

The initial objectives, Mas remembered, were expressed in the founding document, when it affirmed that “the battlefields have moved to the major newsrooms and radio and television studios, the internet, and social media.”

The CAPAC assembled a team of journalists, communicators, and internet users who contribute to disseminating articles published on the website www.capac-web.org, unique in Argentina for its distinctive style of prioritizing Cuba’s reality within the Latin American and global context, and updated daily with the latest news.
