“Donald Trump is subjecting the Cuban people to a criminal blockade, as they already did with Palestine,” Pisarello said in his address to the Lower House.
The legislator from the Barcelona Los Comuns party vehemently pointed out that thousands of children, elderly people, and sick people are being left without hospital care, medicine, food, and on the verge of death in Cuba “because of an immoral and illegal policy of suffocation that has been condemned for more than 60 years by the United Nations.”
At the end of his speech, Pisarello quoted Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano, emphasizing that “those of us who never speak of Cuba as a paradise, but rather as an example of resistance and dignity, will not allow an arrogant, pedophilic, and unscrupulous millionaire to try to turn it into a hell or the scene of a new genocide.”
“In defense of peace, sovereignty, and the dignity of peoples: let Cuba live”, he concluded.
