Lula deems interference unacceptable after US attack on Venezuela

Brasilia, Feb 21 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva described as unacceptable the interference of one country in another, referring to the United States' aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

“It is unacceptable that a head of State of one country can invade another country and kidnap its president,” Lula stated in an interview with India Today TV, the transcript of which was released in this city by the Presidency of this nation.

The president added that this is inexplicable and unacceptable, and the most important thing now is to consolidate the democratic process in Venezuela.

Lula stated that if Maduro, who is held in the United States, is to be tried, the trial should take place within Brazil, not abroad.

The interference of one nation in another is inadmissible and unacceptable, Lula added, remembered that Latin America suffered many military coups in the 1960s, a time when US embassies wielded considerable influence.

Later in the interview, Lula addressed relations with the United States and President Donald Trump, stating that Brazil desires a civilized relationship that respects each country’s sovereignty, culture, and way of life, and seeks mutually beneficial negotiations.

Lula is currently in India on an official visit, during which, in addition to his scheduled meetings with local authorities, he has already participated in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Impact Summit.
