Its president, Daniel Martin Subiaut, informed, “With the same purpose of celebrating peace that gave life to this emblematic institution, the ILM announces the preparation of a concert in the US capital this spring, near the White House.”
Subiaut added that the initiative will feature artists from several countries who advocate for ending hostilities against the island.
The ILM chief asserted, “The concert will call for the defense of the self-determination of nations and the cessation of the United States blockade against the Caribbean nation, which, since January 29, has been tightened regarding the import of oil and its derivatives.”
He noted that the musical stars who will participate in this concert will be announced soon. This event joins the several activities taking place in Latin America as part of the ILM’s 105th anniversary.
The concert announcement comes after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order in January declaring a national emergency and establishing a process for imposing tariffs on goods from countries that supply crude oil to Cuba.
