Presidents of Russia and the UAE urge ceasefire in the Middle East

Moscow, March 2 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, urged a cessation of hostilities in the Middle East in a telephone conversation.

“Both sides emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and a return to the diplomatic process,” according to a statement released Monday by the Kremlin press service.

The statement refers that the two leaders discussed the situation in the Middle East in the context of the US and Israeli aggression against Iran and the country’s retaliatory actions.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched coordinated armed attacs against Iran, what led to Tehran responding to the offensive with retaliatory attacks against Israel and US military bases located in Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.

In his talk with the Emirati president, Putin emphasized that the US and Israeli aggression in Iran has thwarted the process of finding a diplomatic solution to the Iranian issue.

In this context, the Russian president expressed his willingness to contribute to stabilization in the Middle East.

For his part, the Emirati leader said that Iran’s retaliatory attacks have affected his country and denied that his territory is being used for US bombings of Iranian cities.
